Free Crypto Price Alerts on Telegram Without Connecting Your Exchange

Most crypto alert tools ask for something you shouldn't hand over lightly: an exchange API key, a wallet connection, or an app that has to stay logged in on your phone. For something as simple as "tell me when BTC drops below a number," that's a bad trade.

You don't need any of it. Here's how to get a free crypto price alert delivered to Telegram in about two minutes — no API key, no wallet, no download.

Why API-key alerts are the wrong default

An API key exists so a service can act on your account. A price alert doesn't need to act on anything — it only needs public market data, which is the same for you and everyone else. Any tool asking for exchange access just to notify you about a price is asking for far more permission than the job requires.

The practical risk isn't only theft. It's key sprawl: you connect three tools over a year, forget which ones still have access, and never rotate anything. The safest key is the one you never created.

The other failure mode: alerts that quietly die

Exchange and app alerts tend to be tied to a session. Close the app, get logged out, switch phones, or hit a rate limit, and the alert stops existing without telling you. You find out when the move already happened. Server-side alerts don't have that problem — they run whether or not anything of yours is open.

Write conditions, not price levels

The bigger upgrade is what you set, not where. Most people set single-price alerts, get pinged constantly, and mute them within a week. Set one rule per decision instead.

IF BTC < 92,000 OR ETH < 3,100 → notify me

That's one rule for one idea: majors are breaking down, go look. Either leg means the same thing to you, so it's one ping instead of two.

IF BTC < 92,000 AND ETH < 3,100 → notify me

This is the one almost nobody sets up. It only fires when both majors are weak — real market-wide risk-off, not one exchange having a thin wick. Two separate alerts can't express this: you'd get pinged twice and then have to manually check whether both were still true at the same moment.

You can also cross markets, because crypto doesn't move in a vacuum:

IF BTC < 92,000 AND XAU > 3,400 → notify me

Bitcoin down while gold is bid is a specific story — money leaving risk, not just a crypto-only flush. No exchange alert can tell you that.

Setting it up

  1. Go to doneroad.com and create a free account — no card, no download, no exchange connection.
  2. Pick your asset. Crypto, stocks, forex, gold and oil are all in there.
  3. Add your first condition: price above or below your level.
  4. Add a second condition with AND or OR if your setup needs one.
  5. Read the plain-English preview — it states in one sentence exactly when the alert fires, so you catch a backwards < before it costs you.
  6. Choose Telegram, email, or both. Save.

That's it. The alert runs server-side from public market data. Nothing to keep open, nothing to restart, nothing with permission to touch your funds.

Choose levels worth a notification

Skip round numbers — 90k, 100k, 3,000 are where everyone's stops sit and price pokes through them constantly. Use the level where you'd actually do something: add, hedge, or admit your view is wrong. If you can't answer "what do I do if this fires?" in one sentence, don't set the alert.

And set the invalidation level, not just the target. Knowing at 3am that your thesis is dead is worth more than being told about a price you were hoping for anyway.

DoneRoad is free while in beta — crypto, stocks, forex, gold and oil, unlimited alerts, delivered by Telegram and email. No exchange access, ever. Set up your first alert →
