How many alerts does the TradingView free plan allow in 2026?
As of September 2026, TradingView's pricing page says the free Basic plan includes 3 active price alerts. It lists no technical alerts (indicator, strategy or drawing alerts), no watchlist alerts and no webhook notifications. Basic alerts last up to one month. Paid plans start at Essential, which allows 20 price alerts and 20 technical alerts.
Many traders hit the cap on the second or third level they try to add. They are not doing anything wrong. TradingView limits how many alerts can be active at the same time, and the free limit is small by design, because alert capacity is one of the main differences between plans. The limit counts active alerts, not the levels you care about, and every workaround below starts from that fact.

Why do 3 free TradingView alerts run out so fast?
Three free TradingView price alerts run out fast because one trade idea usually needs two levels: one where you would act on a breakout and one where the idea is wrong. Three alerts cover about one and a half ideas. A normal watchlist of Bitcoin, Ethereum, gold and a forex pair needs far more.
Two other things drain free slots:
- Each alert holds one condition. "Tell me if BTC leaves the range between 78,000 and 84,000" is one idea, but on a single-condition alert it takes two slots. Multi-condition alerts, which combine several conditions into one alert, start at the Plus plan.
- Alerts expire and need re-arming. A Basic alert lasts up to a month. After that you have to set it again, so a busy watchlist becomes regular upkeep.
How can you get past the TradingView free alert limit without paying?
You can stay on TradingView's free Basic plan and still cover more levels in three ways. Set alerts per setup instead of per price line. Delete alerts that never lead to a decision. Move plain price-level alerts to a separate free alert tool, and keep TradingView for charting.
1. Alert on the zone, not every line
If you watch 1.0850, 1.0820 and 1.0790 on EUR/USD, that is three alerts for one decision: "tell me when price enters my buy zone." Put one alert at the outer edge of the zone. Once it fires you are looking at the chart anyway, and you can manage the finer levels by eye.
2. Keep "action" alerts, delete "information" alerts
Go through your active alerts and ask one question of each: if this fired, what would I do? If you have no answer, the alert is taking a slot and teaching you to ignore notifications. Keep only the levels where you would place, add to or close a trade, and set them on the timeframe you actually trade.
3. Move simple price alerts off the charting tool
Charting and alerting are separate jobs. A "tell me when X reaches Y" notification needs only price data and a way to reach you, not a chart. Moving those alerts to a separate tool leaves every TradingView slot free for alerts that need TradingView's indicators, drawings or Pine scripts.
